曾在2001年用狀元籤選進「移動長城」姚明、後續更促成「MM連線」組合的前休士頓火箭總管道森（Carroll Dawson）過世，享壽86歲。
「火箭大家庭為失去深受大家愛戴的前教練和總管道森深感哀悼，他被大家親切地稱為CD（姓名縮寫）。」火箭官方在訃告中表示。

道森在1980年至1997年間擔任火箭的助理教練，之後他接掌球隊總管，直到2007年，期間火箭取得461勝409敗，6次打進季後賽。道森曾經為歐拉朱萬（Hakeem Olajuwon）和山普森（Ralph Sampson）世紀雙塔崛起做出貢獻，也是94和95年二連霸之旅的見證人。
道森在總管期間最為人注目的操作，莫過於用狀元籤挑選7呎5吋高的姚明，促成NBA真正打開中國市場。後續他更透過交易引進得分王麥格瑞迪（Tracy McGrady），組成「MM連線」，讓火箭重新綻放競爭力。
「道森在籃球領域有著非凡的貢獻，但他的人格魅力才是真正令人銘記。他的樂觀精神、富有感染力的幽默感和善良的性格，都將深深被所有人懷念。我們感到自豪的是，道森的旗幟將永遠隨其他火箭傳奇人物一起高掛在豐田中心的上空，以此紀念他的不朽傳奇。」
