An investigation by the World Conker Championships (WCC)
found that the 2024 men’s world champion, David Jakins, also known as King Conker, had won his title “fairly” and did not find evidence of the alleged use of a steel conker.Footage released by the World Conker Championships shows various scenes from the event on October 13, including the moment Jakins was accused of swapping out a steel conker with a real one following his winning match. The WCC said it carried out investigations into the accusations using video and photographic evidence, testimony, and examination of winning conkers to conclude that Jakin “won fairly, and that the steel conker was NOT used in play.”The overall title was awarded to the winner of the women’s section, Kelci Banschbach, who defeated Jakins for that crown.
