A wildfire burning in Northern California became the fourth-largest in the state’s history after scorching about 620 square miles by August 2.The Park fire, which was sparked on July 24, has since spread across multiple counties, including Butte, Tehama, Plumas, and Shasta counties.According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), more than 92,000 acres of the 397,000-acre fire involves Forest Service land. The fire is impacting “a variety of vegetation and ecosystems,” the agency said.The blaze was 24 percent contained as of August 2, but authorities warned of increased fire activity due to possible thunderstorms.This footage, released by Cal Fire, shows smoke emanating from the blaze, as aircraft can be heard flying overhead.
