Kobe Bryant Statue in Downtown Los Angeles Draws 'Hundreds' After Unveiling

‘Hundreds’ of people gathered in downtown Los Angeles on Friday, February 9, to see a statue dedicated to basketball star Kobe Bryant that was unveiled on Thursday, local media reported.The bronze statue, showing Bryant pointing up to the sky, was unveiled outside the Lakers’ home court at the Crypto.com arena prior to a game against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday afternoon.Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant, said it will be part of a trio of statues in an installation dubbed “The House That Kobe Built,” local reports said.Footage filmed by Anthony McBride shows people wearing Lakers jerseys gathering outside the Crypto.com arena on Friday.In 2016, the City of Los Angeles declared August 24 “Kobe Bryant Day” following his retirement from basketball.
