Lunar Lander Launches Into Florida Night Sky

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida, on February 26, carrying with it a lunar lander made by Intuitive Machines.NASA said that the mission’s aim was to “help us better understand the lunar environment in preparation for future human explorers”.The agency subsequently reported that the Athena lunar lander has successfully separated from the rocket.Athena, carrying NASA science and technology, will continue its journey to lunar orbit where it will map the distribution of the different forms of water on the moon, NASA said.It is expected to land on the lunar surface on Thursday, March 6.Footage here was recorded by Katanori Moto from the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Port Carnaveral, Florida, and shows the rocket launching into the sky.
