Rescuers in Australia said they came to the aid of a humpback whale that was trapped in two fishing buoys and rope off the coast of New South Wales on Wednesday, June 12.The Sea World Foundation, which
works to protect marine life,
said rescue vessels and a helicopter team spotted the whale five miles from shore at Fingal Head, approaching the Gold Coast.“The onboard team then carefully approached the whale and were able to secure a large float to the entanglement, with the friction of this added weight causing the rope and buoys to be removed from the whale,” they said.“The team stayed with the whale to ensure it was fully disentangled, with the helicopter crews also observing no remaining entanglements,” the group said.
