Tents from the pro-Palestine encampment at George Washington University were thrown into a garbage truck after police cleared out the camp on Wednesday, May 8, footage shows.Footage filmed and posted to X by Ianne Salvosa, for the Hatchet, shows workers tossing tents into a garbage truck in front of the University Yard in Washington, DC, on Wednesday morning. Police officers began clearing out the encampment early on Wednesday, at which time officers were seen using pepper spray on protesters.According to a local news outlet, 33 protesters were arrested while officers cleared out the camp.
