Spillway gates were opened in the Magat Dam in the Philippines on Monday, November 18, to adjust water levels following rainfall from Typhoon Man-yi, known locally as Pepito.Footage released by the Mariis Dam and Reservoir Division shows water gushing through the spill gates.Residents living near water tributaries in northern Luzon were warned to prepare for the possibility of flooding as excess water was released.At least eight people were killed when Typhoon Man-yi made landfall in the northern Philippines on Saturday, local media reported.The storm was moving out of the Philippine area of responsibility by Monday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
