A police officer in Chile waded through freezing cold mud in the bofedal wetlands of the Andes Mountains to rescue a trapped vicuna calf, video shows.The Carabineros de Chile said the animal was “fighting for its life” at more than 4,200 meters altitude as temperatures dropped to around -2 degrees Celsius (28 Fahrenheit).The animal was examined by the Chilean Agricultural and Livestock Service before being returned to its natural habitat.Vicunas are relatives of the llama and alpaca, and are native to the Andes.
