Thick fog and the stench of chlorine descended on Atlanta suburbs on Monday, September 30, prompting fears that toxic smoke from the BioLab chemical plant fire in Conyers, southeast of Atlanta in Rockdale County, was spreading around the area. However, officials in Gwinnett County
said the fog was caused by a low-pressure system and that the smell from the fire was lingering due to a lack of wind.“The EPA has not picked up anything of concern on its mobile monitors in Gwinnett County,” officials said. “Previous readings in Rockdale County in the area around the fire were not picking up toxic levels. The EPA is recommending anyone in the direct plume to stay inside, but they are not recommending a shelter in place order at this time.”This footage shows a thick haze limiting visibility on Snellville roads Monday morning.
