A deputy in Macomb, Michigan, rescued a dog that was tethered outside a home where a fire had started on Monday, February 17.The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies were dispatched after a caller observed smoke and flames coming from a gas dryer in the basement of the home. The caller also told dispatch that she had placed the family dog outside on his tether prior to calling 911, and that no one else was home. After placing the caller in a patrol vehicle, a deputy grabbed a leash from the vehicle and ran to the side of the home. The deputy then secured the dog and brought it to the vehicle with the homeowner. The two residents of the home and the family dog were unharmed, though the sheriff’s office said the response efforts “were not enough to save the home from the fire.” Credit: Macomb County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
