Heavy rainfall triggered
flooding north of Houston on Thursday, May 2, leading officials to completely
close roads due to
high water.According to the National Weather Service (
NWS), as much as 9 inches of rain had fallen in parts of southeast Texas as of 1:05 pm local time.Drone footage released by the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife shows flooding in Polk County, north of Houston, on Thursday. Several state parks were closed due to the flooding, according to the
department.Shelters were open in both Harris and Polk Counties, according to the
