Satellite imagery captured Hurricane Beryl making landfall on Carriacou Island, in Grenada, on Monday, July 1.The Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) said the imagery showed “an extraordinary view of the mesovortices within Hurricane Beryl’s eye.”The US National Hurricane Center described the situation as “extremely dangerous and life-threatening” and advised residents in Grenada, the Grenadine Islands and Carriacou Island to stay in their shelters.It said heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding were expected through Monday afternoon.A hurricane watch was issued for Jamaica too.
