Three climate activists from Just Stop Oil were arrested on Friday, September 27, after throwing tomato soup on two of Van Gogh’s Sunflower paintings, London’s National Gallery said.Footage released by Just Stop Oil shows the activists throwing the soup at the paintings and sitting down in the room inside the National Gallery, on Friday, as people attending the exhibit scold them. “You’re a fool, you are,” one woman can be heard saying to an activist.The National Gallery said that the two paintings were examined by a conservator and were “unharmed.”According to news reports, the activists staged the protest just an hour after two other Just Stop Oil activists were jailed for a similar action that took place in 2022.
