Thousands in Malibu, California and the surrounding area were without power and forced to evacuate or seek shelter as high winds and dry conditions fueled the Franklin fire on Tuesday, December 10.Santa Ana winds of
up to 70 mph quickly exacerbated the brushfire, which started on Monday, December 9, causing the fire to spread to more than 2000 acres. Smoke from the fires could be seen throughout southern California.Local authorities said over 700 safety personnel were mobilized to the growing 2,593 acres fire which was zero percent contained as of Tuesday,
according to the Malibu Times.
