New York City authorities confirmed that a “strong person of interest” in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was in custody on Monday, December 9.In a press conference on Monday, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said authorities in Altoona, Pennsylvania, detained a man named Luigi Mangione, 26, at a local McDonald’s earlier that morning after an employee recognized him and called police. Tisch said Mangione was arrested on firearms charges and is the person of interest in Thompson’s killing.Tisch said Mangione had several items on his person matching descriptions of the suspect, including several fake IDs and a firearm. Tisch confirmed a fake New Jersey ID found on Mangione on Monday was the same ID the shooting suspect used to check in at a New York City hostel.NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny went on to give further information about Mangione.
