Lions at a sanctuary in Harrismith, South Africa, have been experiencing heavy springtime snow this September, something the animals are not entirely familiar with, according to GG Conservation, the group that cares for the big cats.GG Conservation’s Suzanne Scott captured this footage of the lions enjoying and exploring in the wintry conditions. According to an Instagram post, the animals don’t often see this type of weather and were “intrigued and cautious” of the “novel stuff falling from the skies.”“Unusual heavy snowfall early spring in South Africa so the first time ever we have been able to film the lions in deep snow,” Scott said.On Facebook, the conservation group wrote that lions are “survivors and warriors” that can handle anything that’s thrown at them. They also noted they did not hear any roaring during the snowstorm. The sanctuary added, “We are now back to normal, the snow disappeared as quickly as it came.”According to local news reports, motorists in parts of the region were stranded in their cars overnight as the heavy snow blanketed roadways.
