Satellite imagery captured the McDonald fire continuing to burn near Fairbanks from Wednesday, June 26, to Thursday, June 27, with officials reporting that the fire had burned over 62,000 acres (about 97 square miles) as of Wednesday.Footage released by the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) shows several fires, including the McDonald fire, burning around Fairbanks, Alaska.The McDonald fire was started by a lightning strike on June 8, officials said.According to an Alaskan news report, the McDonald fire is currently the state’s largest wildfire.
