Police in Hamburg said a suspect was shot and wounded on June 16 after threatening them with “a pickaxe and an incendiary device” as soccer fans gathered in the city ahead of the Poland v Netherlands match at Euro 2024.The incident happened at 12:30 pm, as 40,000 fans were gathered, local media said.Police said there was a “major operation” underway in the St Pauli area.
