Two bear cubs were released back into the wild in Boulder County, Colorado, on Friday, November 22, after being rescued and rehabilitated over the past year, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW).The two cubs - one found in Longmont earlier, another in Colorado Springs - spent “months at the Del Norte rehab facility and are now ready to make their own dens for hibernation,” the agency said.“At the rehab facility, CPW staff intentionally start to scale back feedings to mimic conditions in the wild and signal to the bears it’s time to start hibernation. We try to set them up for success because we want bears to thrive in Colorado,” said CPW.Footage posted by CPW on November 27 shows the the cubs venturing out cautiously after CPW staff open the gate to their cage and then making a run for it following some encouraging claps.
