Pro-Palestinian protesters at Wayne State University (
WSU) in Detroit continued to gather and chant on Thursday, May 30, following the clearing of their campus encampment.Footage recorded by Quinn Banks shows protesters chanting at police lines and being moved on from the encampment. The encampment was removed following
two days of remote operations at the university, which
WSU said was due to the “ongoing public safety issue.”A
statement issued by school president Kimberly Andrews Espy said that the encampment was cleared following conversations with protesters about trespassing on university property. The statement added that the encampment “created multiple legal, health, and safety challenges that disrupted our operations and required us to shift to remote operations this week.”Local media
reported that at least 12 arrests were made of protesters who remained on campus after the encampment was cleared. Credit: Quinn Banks via Storyful
