Batman became the first superhero to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday. The Caped Crusader was honored with the 2,790th star and joins only 20 fictional characters with a coveted plaque on the famous sidewalk, including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Godzilla. Created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger for DC Comics, Batman first appeared in “Detective Comics #27” in 1939.
