The San Bernardino County Fire (SBCF) department used a drone to locate and rescue a teen trapped between large boulders in Yucca Valley on Monday, February 24.Drone footage released to X by the fire department shows crew members locating the 15-year-old boy, who had slipped about 30 feet while climbing in the Rimrock area of Yucca Valley on Monday evening.“This aerial perspective helped ensure a safer and more efficient rescue effort, demonstrating the valuable role of drone technology in emergency response operations,” read the post.The fire department was able to conduct a technical rope rescue to remove the teenager from the crevasse.SBCF said the teenager was suffering from hypoxia, dehydration, and hypothermia due to prolonged exposure to the elements, and said that paramedics administered life support measures before carrying him down.The teenager was taken to a medical center in Palm Springs for further treatment.
