A performance of political drama The Constituent was delayed at London’s Old Vic Theatre on July 6 as star of the show, James Corden, brought a tablet device out on stage to watch England’s penalty shootout victory over Switzerland at Euro 2024.Theatre-goer Andrew Smart captured footage of Corden and actor Zachary Hart on stage watching the penalty drama unfold in the quarter-finals of the tournament, with England eventually making it through to the semi-finals thanks to a 5-4 victory.The play was due to begin at 7.30pm, which coincided with the end of the game.Corden can be heard relaying the progress of the shootout to an enthusiastic crowd, adding that once they were done they would be watching a “very serious, intense, political” play.
