More than 120 killed in magnitude 5.9 earthquake in China
A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck northwestern China on Monday evening, according to the US Geological Survey. The epicenter struck at a depth of 6 miles in the mountainous province of Gansu, near the border with Qinghai. At least 126 people were killed and more than 700 injured. Rescue efforts are being hampered by the mountainous terrain and sub-zero temperatures.
