A Chinese helicopter flew within 10 feet (3 meters) of a Philippine aircraft over a disputed section of the South China Sea on February 18, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).Footage taken from inside a plane belonging to the Philippine Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources shows a helicopter close to the aircraft.The PCG described the move as “dangerous”, “reckless” and posing a “serious risk to the safety of the pilots and passengers.”The Associated Press reported one of its journalists was on board, along with other foreign media, during what it said was a “tense 30-minute standoff.”The Chinese military said its forces tracked and moved the plane from the area “in accordance with law”, and said the Philippines “spread false narratives.”The incident happened over the Scarborough Shoal, which is disputed between the two countries, both claiming ownership.
