Satellite imagery from the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) showed snow squalls traveling across New York state on Wednesday, January 29.“There is enough instability for some lightning to occur within the convective bands,” CIRA wrote on X.On Wednesday, the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services warned that “widespread snowfall and strong winds up to 55 mph,” would hit the state.“Be cautious when traveling, as conditions can change rapidly with near-zero visibility,” the agency said.
