Campus police began to dismantle a pro-Palestine encampment erected by protesters at the University of Chicago, footage posted in the early morning of Tuesday, May 7, shows.Video by Brendan Gutenschwager shows officers tearing down structures at the site on the university’s Main Quad, including a sign that says “end the siege” and calls for a ceasefire in Gaza.According to ABC 7, police announced over loudspeakers that anyone who remained would be arrested for criminal trespassing.An NBC 5 reporter at the scene did not witness any arrests at the time of writing.Protesters against the war in Gaza have been camped out on campus for more than a week, according to ABC 7.The dismantling of the site came as Israel said it captured the Gaza side of Rafah crossing on the Egyptian border on Tuesday.
