A bloodstained armband and other personal items that belonged to a man who served as a stretcher-bearer in the First World War are to be put on sale by a Derbyshire-based auctioneer on August 7.Images from Hanson’s Auctioneers show a collection of items that were owned by Pte Frank Pye, who was born in 1882 and joined the war in 1914. He initially served as a cook before becoming a stretcher-bearer, the auctioneer said.The items in the collection include a bloodstained armband and war diaries.Hanson’s Auctioneers said that they received the collection from a descendant of Pye, and that the items were estimated to sell for between £300 and £400.The auction at Hanson’s Auctioneers in Derbyshire was scheduled for August 7.
