Al Jazeera’s Gaza Bureau Chief Wael al-Dahdouh
returned to reporting just hours after his journalist son was killed in an Israeli strike on Rafah on January 7.Hamza al-Dahdouh was killed along with fellow journalist Mustafa Thuraya in a
drone strike on a car on Sunday, January 7, Al Jazeera
reported. Journalist Hazem Rajab was also in the vehicle and seriously injured in the strike.The
IDF said the Al Jazeera journalists were traveling in the vehicle with a “terrorist” who they said was operating a drone “in a way that put
IDF forces at risk,”
according to Israeli reports. The
IDF did not name their intended target.A strike on the Nuseirat camp in October
killed Wael’s wife, daughter, another son, and grandson.
