Al Jazeera’s Gaza Bureau Chief Wael al-Dahdouh returned to reporting just hours after his journalist son was killed in an Israeli strike on Rafah on January 7.Hamza al-Dahdouh was killed along with fellow journalist Mustafa Thuraya in a drone strike on a car on Sunday, January 7, Al Jazeera reported. Journalist Hazem Rajab was also in the vehicle and seriously injured in the strike.The IDF said the Al Jazeera journalists were traveling in the vehicle with a “terrorist” who they said was operating a drone “in a way that put IDF forces at risk,” according to Israeli reports. The IDF did not name their intended target.A strike on the Nuseirat camp in October killed Wael’s wife, daughter, another son, and grandson.Al Jazeera said Wael vowed to keep reporting in the wake of the deaths of his family members.Footage filmed by Wael’s nephew and colleague Hamdan Dahdouh shows Wael reporting from Khan Yunis on Sunday for the first time following Hamza’s death.Wael posted an Instagram video of himself in press armor on Monday with the caption “We continue despite the pain,” according to machine translation.
