Banksy Mural Removed From English Seaside Town

Part of a Banksy mural in Lowestoft, UK, was removed from its original location late on Tuesday, April 4.Footage recorded by Oliv3r Drone Photography shows a piece of the mural being removed from its location on the corner of Denmark Road and Katwijk Way.The work, called the Seagull, was part of renowned graffiti artist Banksy’s Great British Spraycation tour in August 2021.Oliv3r Drone Photography told Storyful that only the top piece of the mural, which features a seagull diving into a skip, was removed on Tuesday night.East Suffolk County Council told local media that the wall which the mural was painted on was part of a privately owned building, meaning the council had no control over the future of the work.In a statement issued to Storyful, the council wrote: “While we are naturally disappointed by the reported removal of the Banksy seagull from the side of a building in Lowestoft, it is ultimately the right of the owner to make decisions about their own property, and we acknowledge that Banksy works, by their nature, may not always be permanent features.” Credit: Oliv3r Drone Photography via Storyful
