Birmingham Airport’s runway was temporarily closed to allow for snow-clearing work on Friday, March 10, the airport said.Footage shared by the airport shows snow-clearing and de-icing efforts on site.The airport tweeted at around 7:30 am local time that the runway would be closed for one hour to allow crews to clear the snow.The airport said the runway was “open and operational” at 11 am.Local media reported that some schools and colleges in Birmingham had shut on Friday, with local bus routes also being diverted due to snow.
