Buildings in downtown Akron, Ohio, boarded up their windows amid ongoing protests after the fatal police shooting of Jayland Walker on June 27.Akron mayor Daniel Horrigan imposed a curfew on Monday, July 4, and canceled an Independence Day fireworks display scheduled for the evening after protests turned violent on Sunday, July 3. In a press release, Horrigan said there was “significant property damage done to downtown Akron.”According to the City of Akron’s official Twitter page, Horrigan plans to lift the curfew on Wednesday, July 6.
