Crews Clear '12 Million Cubic Yards of Snow' in San Bernardino Mountains

Road crews had cleared more than 12 million cubic yards of snow from state highways in the San Bernardino Mountains by Tuesday, March 7, after days of heavy snow, according to the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)Footage from Caltrans District 8 shows snow being plowed from SR-18 in the mountains north of San Bernardino.“The #Caltrans8 Fawnskin Crew did some serious heavy lifting on SR-18 through ‘Arctic Circle’ today,” the caption read. “Crews have now removed over 12 million cubic yards of snow off the State Highway systems in the San Bernardino Mountains!”The San Bernardino County Government on Tuesday said snow has been removed from 90 percent of roads in the county, and said SR-18 had reopened between Lucerne Valley and Big Bear.
