Damaging Tropical Cyclone Freddy Reaches Madagascar

Tropical Cyclone Freddy damaged homes in Mananjary, Madagascar, on Wednesday, February 22, local media reported, after it made landfall on the island the night before.Meteo France said the cyclone reached the coast of Madagascar at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday night. Local media reported the next day that neighborhoods were flooded in Mananjary and roofs had been torn off houses.Footage filmed by Caren Ramanantoanina of the IFRC on Tuesday shows rainfall and workers preparing for the cyclone.The storm was expected to strengthen again before making a second landfall in Mozambique on Friday morning, Meteo France said.
