EarthCam footage shows the construction of the $1.2 billion I-74 Mississippi River Bridge project over the course of two years.Timelapse footage shot by EarthCam’s webcams shows the construction of the I-74 bridge as it “rises up out of the Mississippi River” from start to finish, from 2020 to 2022.The project intended to improve access across the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities (a region of four cities, Davenport, Bettendorf, Rock Island and Moline), replacing the I-74 twin bridges for a new eight-lane bridge, according to the bridge’s website. The new bridge fully opened to traffic in December 2021.The bridge sees over 80,000 vehicles cross it daily via the I-74, spanning from Bettendorf, in Iowa, to Moline, in Illinois, EarthCam said. The bridge was expected to be commemorated as a stamp this year, according to local news outlet Quad City Times.
