Some leftover cheese spread attracted a discerning bear to break into a car in Winsted, Connecticut, on April 12, but the creature was nonetheless praised by the homeowner for at least having the manners to eat the sample elsewhere.The footage was recorded by Angela Skornia’s security camera and shows the bear opening the car door and inspecting the inside.Skornia told Storyful that she checked her cameras after finding three of the car’s doors open the next morning.“I looked in and saw big sandy paw prints all over the backseat and floor,” she said. “My driver seat was covered in dirt and paw prints, and the whole inside smelled like garbage.”Skornia said that a box of flavored cheese spreads, leftover from a fundraising event, was likely what had drawn the bear to “lumber in” and “sniff around.”“The bear opened the box and took one of the flavors,” she said. "We’re still wondering what flavor he chose, was it horseradish or cabernet? But he was a gentleman, he didn’t stay in the car, he took his food to go and didn’t even touch my faux fur coat.“We’re fond of the bears around here and appreciate that he was a gentle bear, had even left the doors open to air out the garbage stench,” she said. “This bear had ransacked the neighborhood’s garbage before deciding to climb in my car, he was obviously hungry after a long winter’s nap.” Credit: Angela Skornia via Storyful
