A man crossed paths with a mama bear and her cub while hiking in Shenandoah National Park in Jollett, Virginia.Footage recorded by Jason Johnson shows the close encounter with a bear and her cub who were on his trail.Johnson jokingly asks the bear if he can get by, before realizing it seems to be coming in his direction.“She’s not too concerned with me though,” he can be heard saying in the clip, and keeps his distance as the pair walk out of sight.Johnson told Storyful that the footage, which was
posted to YouTube on January 19, was originally filmed back in 2018.“I encountered about 17 bears that year, and this is the only one that didn’t instantly run away,” Johnson said. “The lesson learned here is that if you encounter a bear that doesn’t run and is turning their head back and forth, it could be because there’s a cub out of sight.” Credit: Jason Johnson via Storyful
