Hungry Mini-Donkeys Unable to 'Pick' Just One Super Bowl Winner at Maryland Zoo

Two donkeys at Baltimore’s Maryland Zoo, Harry and Lloyd, struggled to come to a consensus on Friday, February 10, about whether the Philadelphia Eagles or Kansas City Chiefs would win the upcoming Super Bowl. The miniature Mediterranean donkeys were faced with two paper footballs, each with the logo of one of the Super Bowl teams, filled with vegetables, the zoo said. The activity was an annual tradition where “the brothers had a chance to choose the team they feel will win this weekend’s Super Bowl.”Video posted by the Maryland Zoo on Friday shows the donkeys each grabbing a football and snacking on the food inside. The zoo said that “it’s hard to say if one team emerged as a clear favorite,” joking that “the real winner of this contest was the donkeys themselves.”The zoo said that though the exercise was a fun tradition for their “football animals,” the donkeys’ keepers used it as an opportunity for an enrichment activity to keep the animals “mentally and physically engaged.” Credit: Maryland Zoo via Storyful
