Intel Arc A380 Running On Core I9-9900k And Z390, Post Issues And Workaround | Tom's Hardware

Intel's Arc A380 and other Arc Alchemist graphics cards have not been officially validated for use on older platforms. One of the key requirements for decent performance, or perhaps even general compatibility, is that the platform needs to have Resizable BAR support. Most modern platforms have this, and even some older Intel 300-series motherboards have ReBAR, including the MSI MEG Z390 Ace motherboard. However, simply having ReBAR support apparently isn't sufficient, and there's an odd incompatibility between this MSI motherboard and the Arc A380 we used for testing. The workaround was to install a secondary graphics card — just about any model should suffice — which then allowed the PC to POST and function as normal. Obviously, that's not ideal and users of older PC hardware will likely want to steer clear of Intel's Arc GPUs
