Spectators gathered on the shores of Juno Beach, Florida, on Wednesday, February 15, as an adult loggerhead sea turtle named Rocky made her way back to the ocean after being treated for an injury. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC) said Rocky arrived at the LMC on December 29 after “she was found floating off North Hutchinson Island with a tear in her lung caused by a boat strike.”After six weeks of rehabilitation and care, Rocky was ready to return home, the LMC said. The LMC said its research department attached a satellite transmitter to Rocky’s carapace to track her location and diving patterns, along with light levels and temperature. This was the LMC’s first public sea turtle release since 2021, it added.
