Osoyoos Residents Remain Under Evacuation Alert as Eagle Bluff Fire Burns on US-Canada Border

Some residents of Osoyoos, British Columbia, remained under evacuation alerts as the Eagle Bluff fire continued to burn on US-Canada border on Thursday, August 3, local news reported. This video showing a smoky and hazy Osoyoos landscape was posted by Down to Fight Fire, who said it was captured on August 1, when an updated evacuation alert was issued. The BC Wildfire Service said on Tuesday that weather conditions, including high temperatures and low humidity, “led to increased activity and growth,” and that the conditions would continue throughout the week.Elsewhere in the province, fast-moving wildfires destroyed structures and forced evacuations, local media reported on Wednesday morning. The fire is estimated to have burned a total of 3,044 hectares (7,522 acres) on the Canadian side since July 29, according to local reports. US fire officials gave the fire’s size as 16,347 acres, but it was unclear if that included the blaze on the Canadian side. Credit: Down To Fight Fire via Storyful
