Satellite Imagery Shows Russian Volcanic Eruption From Space

The Russian space agency Roscosmos released satellite imagery on April 11 and 12 that it said shows the eruption of the Shiveluch volcano on the country’s far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula.By Wednesday, April 12, the volcano had been emitting a cloud of ash for two days, impacting several villages in the region.The images were captured by three different Russian satellites — Kanopus-V-IK, Elektro–L, and Arktika-M — according to Roscosmos.Other photos of the eruption was captured by cosmonaut Dmitry Petelin aboard the International Space Station, according to Russian state-owned news agency TASS Credit: Roscosmos via Storyful
