Tornado Causes Severe Damage to Preschool in Selma

At least seven people were killed after "a large and extremely dangerous tornado” tore through Alabama on Thursday, January 12.Gov Kay Ivey declared a state of emergency for some of the worst-hit counties, including Autauga, Chambers, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, and Tallapoosa.Footage taken by Valley Grande resident Amanda McCloud shows damage to Crosspoint Christian Church and an adjoining preschool. The clip shows debris strewn over a parking lot, partly collapsed buildings, and a vehicle that was flipped on its side.Pastor David Nichols of Crosspoint Christian Church said said that none of the 70 children in the preschool were injured during the storm.“Our staff acted quickly and bravely and moved the children to safety and continued to do so in the aftermath of the storm.
