A locomotive engine derailed and crashed into the garage of a home in Niagara Falls, New York, on Monday, July 22, the train company confirmed.Footage filmed by photographer Robert Bennett shows the
CSX Transportation engine and the collapsed garage on 35th Street on Monday.According to
local news no injuries were reported.In a statement to Storyful,
CSX said the incident was under investigation.“Earlier this morning, a
CSX locomotive derailed near Seneca Avenue in Niagara Falls, New York, impacting a residential garage and causing the loss of diesel fuel. The loss is currently contained. There were no injuries, no impacts to waterways, and there is no risk to the public.“
CSX immediately notified state and local authorities, the
EPA, and the National Response Center (
NRC).
CSX and its contractors are currently working in close coordination with the city and local officials to safely recover the product,” the statement read.The Buffalo News
