Dark smoke was hanging over the town of Albergaria, in western Portugal, on Monday, September 16, as wildfires raged in the Aveiro region, causing the death of at least one person.Drone footage filmed by X user @laisidoro shows a huge cloud of dark smoke towering over the Portuguese town of Albergaria.Several roads were closed and people working in businesses in the industrial zone of Aveiro were evacuated.At least 17 people were injured, according to local news reports.Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro said on Monday that one firefighter had died while battling the fire in Oliveira de Azemeis, near Albergaria.The Aveiro region and seven other districts were placed under yellow warning for high temperatures by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere.Almost 200 firefighters and 60 vehicles were assigned to the fire in Albergaria, officials said.
