Emergency Crews Deployed to Northern NSW in Preparation For Cyclone Alfred Making Landfall

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) deployed three water rescue teams and specialized equipment to support emergency efforts in the state’s north on Tuesday, March 4, as Cyclone Alfred approached.According to FRNSW, the teams were made up of 14 highly-trained firefighters and a team leader who will be working in Lismore, Bellingen and Coffs Harbour where they will support the State Emergency Service.Crews will be “on standby to conduct flood rescues over the next few days, when it is expected there will be a heightened level of activity in line with weather forecasts,” FRNSW said.The Bureau of Meteorology issued a cyclone watch for southeast Queensland and northern New South Wales on Tuesday.
