Winter storm warnings were in effect for the Sierra Nevadas in northern California as heavy snow bore down on Friday, November 22.Footage from live traffic cameras on Interstate 80 shows lowering visibility on Thursday afternoon as conditions deteriorated near Donner Summit.Authorities put a chain controls order in place and were checking vehicles on I-80 on either side of Donner Summit, near Truckee and Kingvale.The NWS warned of potential snow accumulations between 1 and 4 feet, with up to 5 feet possible on the higher peaks of Plumas and Lassen Park Counties, through Tuesday afternoon.“Slow down and drive safe,” the California Department of Transportation advised.
