Two hikers were airlifted on September 15 after getting lost during an excursion to the Grotta del Gelo on Mount Etna’s northern side, the Italian firefighters, Vigili del Fuoco, said.The hikers, from Catania, aged 23 and 30, had set out on their trek in the early afternoon of Saturday, September 14, but worsening weather conditions prevented them from finding their way back down, local news reported.
