Inundated streets in Carolina Beach were seen from above in drone footage recorded on Tuesday, September 17, after an unnamed storm brought historic rains to parts of North Carolina on Monday.Brian Donovan said that by 8:30 on Tuesday morning the water had “receded quite a bit” but many businesses and homes remained affected.“I was able to get out and help some friends and colleagues today, and it reinforced why I love this area”, he said. “A few tears, but mostly positivity, smiles, and mantras of ‘this too shall pass’.”The National Weather Service (NWS) reported that historic levels of rain had fallen across Carolina Beach, Southport, and Boiling Spring Lakes.The NWS said some gauges were showing over 12 inches of rain had fallen in 12 hours, something they said only happens once every 200 years.
